PET LITTER HISTORY 1948 - 2000
In 1948 in the village of Cassopolis, Michegan, Edward Lowe
first offered dried and calcined Fullers Earth as pet litter.
In 1991 a new type of more efficient litter emerged from Wyoming.
This was a clumping (or scoopable) ultra (small granules)
which, because of its inherent qualities like ease of use
and hygiene became very popular.
From modest sales of $3million in 1991, this clumping product's
sales grew to $600million in 1999 - more than half the total
pet litter sale of $1044 million of USA.
